Environmental Initiative

Thanks to a grant from Walmart and Sam's Club, we have switched the barn to dust-free, mold-free cardboard shavings, which are biodegradable and do not give off VOC's.  We are using a new FDA approved steroid inhaler for our equine with asthma and allergies.  We are steaming every bale of hay to kill molds and reduce dust.  By reducing unhealthy respiratory particulate, using biodegradable shavings and removing steroids from manure, we can compost the manure and use it in our organic garden.  Our fall harvest yielded organic carrots, which we fed to the horses!  We are currently the only sanctuary in the country to be doing this type of initiative to help animals and humans breathe better, improve the environment AND produce healthy food.
